Mr. Peter Conrad

English Teacher

I attended Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, where I studied history, philosophy and creative writing. While majoring in English, I earned my teaching certificate and attended graduate school at National Louis University, Chicago. I have been a secondary teacher for 21 years, the last 17 spent at Oswego East High School (OEHS) in District 308. During my years in the English department at OEHS, I have taught all levels of English, from freshmen to senior, as well as multiple electives. I have also spent many years coaching our student athletes on the softball fields, tennis courts, and even in bowling alleys.

With a long tradition of teachers in my family, including my wife, my love for literature and passion for writing pushed me into the classroom. I enjoy spending my days establishing relationships that are built around the fundamental need for knowledge and discovery. Teaching writing and literature permits me to take part in the education of communication. This privilege ensures that our future will be in the hands of thoughtful, understanding citizens who are capable of expressing themselves and their unique and innovative ideas.
