Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Matthew Engelhardt

Social Studies

I attended American University, in Washington, D.C., for a semester studying American politics in 2005. I received two bachelor’s degrees in 2007 from Monmouth College, in Monmouth, Ill., one in history education and one in political science. In 2012, obtained my master’s degree in educational leadership from Olivet Nazarene University, in Bourbonnais, Ill.

While attending Monmouth College I had the opportunity to serve as a teacher assistant in a freshmen seminar course. I knew right away that I had found a future profession. Following that experience, I dedicated myself to my athletic and academic pursuits. Studying at American University in the fall of 2005, I found myself taking classes on Capitol Hill, in the Supreme Court, and many other amazing settings that lent themselves greatly to first-hand learning experiences. Upon returning from Washington D.C., I was able to complete two majors while also earning four varsity letters on Monmouth’s baseball team. After student teaching while serving as a volunteer basketball and baseball coach in 2006 and 2007, I was hired to teach history and economics and coach at Oswego East High School. I coach basketball, baseball, and golf. I’m looking forward to continuing my education.
