Mrs. Jamie Glaser

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in 2002. I majored in industrial design. I spent four years as a free-lance graphic and industrial designer. During this time I went back to school, majoring in elementary education. I received my master’s in the art of teaching from Aurora University, Aurora, Ill., in May of 2006. I hold an endorsement in visual arts. I was thrilled to become an elementary art teacher in fall 2006. I have been in district 308 since 2007.

I am a professional artist as well as an art teacher. I create mixed media paintings that emphasize the beauty of a collection of thoughts. My passion is painting and turning trash into a luxuriously bold statement. My work has won awards from the Kendall Artists Guild at the Oswego Arts Fest in 2012 and from Light, Space, Time Gallery for abstract work in 2013. I have been in shows in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Maryland since 2012. I wrote and illustraited a picture book about my girls called "Then There's Violet," published in 2015. Currently I am working on a novel series about sirens and look forward to publishing it soon.

I love teaching my students how to look at artwork, talk about it, create it, and reflect on what it means to each of us. Art is a statement, a passion and a gift. The art room is an amazing place to watch creativity grow.
