Mrs. Michele McKenzie

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!

This is my 15th year of teaching here at Lakewood Creek.  I have taught both third and fourth grades during this time--I am so excited to be back in 4th grade! One of my main goals this year is to help your child explore his or her strengths and improve on any needs he or she may have, all while preparing for what’s ahead in fifth grade!

I attended Augustana College, in Rock Island, Ill., where I received my bachelor’s degree in English.  After graduation, I worked at Aurora University, in Aurora, Ill., in the admissions office.  It was while I was at Aurora that I realized I wanted to be a teacher, and I enrolled in Aurora’s teacher certification program. In May 2005, I received my master’s degree in teaching, with junior high endorsements in language arts and speech communication. In Summer 2014, I completed the Gifted Education Seminar, which allowed me to develop more strategies for teaching gifted children and to earn my Gifted Education Teacher endorsement for grades K-8.

During my time in District 308, I have served on Lakewood Creek’s building leadership team and math committee. I am also a current member of the Lakewood Creek SPARK Team.

I'm looking forward to a super year!
