Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Jody Strzempa
I joined the Fox Chase Elementary School staff in August of 2002. I started my teaching career in 1990, after graduating from Elmhurst College, in Elmhurst, Ill., with a degree in physical education, kindergarten through 12th grade. My first teaching experience was in School District 65. I taught middle school physical education as a permanent building substitute. I taught there for a little over three years and then moved on to District 99, where I taught junior high, and elementary physical education. After teaching in Cicero for seven years, I joined School District 308.
I received my master’s degree in administration with my Type 75 from the University of St. Francis, in Joliet, Ill., in 2007. I have since continued my education and have completed my master’s. I decided to follow my father’s footsteps into education. My first experience working with kids was working in a day camp in Glenview, Ill. I worked there between the ages of 13 and 19. This was the building block to my career in education. I loved working with kids of all ages, and loved seeing them succeed in athletics, as well as socialization skills. I saw kids build lifelong relationships at the day camp. I felt that my ability to teach and guide children in positive ways was strong and that the best way to continue in this area was to become an educator.
