Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Jamie Wayne
My journey to become a teacher began at Trinity International University, Deerfield, IL, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education, with middle school endorsements in language arts and science. After graduation, I began my teaching career as a substitute teacher, where I had the opportunity to take two long-term leave positions teaching seventh and first grades. The following fall, I transitioned to my own fourth grade classroom when Fox Chase Elementary School opened in 2001. I am currently in my 13th year teaching fourth grade.
After my first few years of teaching, I received my master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of St. Francis, Joliet, IL. After having children of my own, I also transitioned into a job-share classroom, where I’ve had the opportunity to share my classroom with another veteran teacher, Jessica Braun. This has afforded us both the ideal circumstance of balancing our teaching careers and young children at home. We have worked hard to mesh our teaching styles and create a thriving classroom environment where our students feel safe, feel successful, and know they are treasured. Our mission is to not only help all of our students make academic progress but also to help them develop socially and emotionally.
I’m excited to begin another year of teaching and learning with another fantastic group of students.
