Mr. Michael Everson

I have been teaching in public schools for 17years, the past 15 at Plank Junior High School, where I teach Art. I enjoy teaching art to junior high students as it is rewarding to see them working with materials, creating projects, and exploring their imaginations. The students are given the opportunity to create with paint, clay, wood, wire, inks, and much more while learning about various artists and art styles.

To begin my formal journey into the art world, I attended Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Fla. I earned a certificate of graphic design, but I had also begun to explore photography. Upon graduating I began working at a commercial photo studio in Sarasota, where I remained for 15 years (and completed a BFA degree). At this time I had my first exhibits in art galleries, showing my oil paintings, and it was during this time that two of my paintings were acquired for the permanent collection in the state museum of Florida. Eventually I moved to Chicago, where I continued to do commercial photography and exhibit my paintings. After three years in the city and desiring a change, I moved to Oswego, earned a Master's Degree in teaching and began my teaching career.
