Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Arts - Major: Special Education Minor: Creative Writing
Hello, my name is Nicholas Cherwin and I have been the special education teacher with the G.O.A.L Program for approximately two years. During my time with District 308 I have also taught math and English. This year I am teaching physical education and was able to partner with the local YMCA to allow our students to use their facilities during class. Last semester I was also privileged enough to be selected as a member of the English-Language Arts Committee which helped create the new ELA curriculum to be implemented during the 2015-2016 school year. One of my personal favorite activities that I was able to participate in was coaching a basketball team within our program that competed against other local alternative education programs.
I was born and raised in Joliet, Illinois where I attended Joliet Catholic Academy and played football winning a state championship in 2007. After high school I continued to play football at Loras College where I graduated with a degree in special education and creative writing. I enjoy working out and running and spend my weekends and summers with my girlfriend, friends, and family. I plan on pursuing my degree in educational leadership in hopes to one day become a district administrator. I am thankful for the opportunity to begin my career with District 308 and look forward to helping my students while simultaneously learning from our experienced staff. I look forward to working with our students, parents, and community and am available to answer any questions or comments via email at email@example.com.
