Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Tara Stortz
My educational career began in 1998 in Oswego District 308 as a student teacher at East View Elementary. After graduating from Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, I accepted a full time teaching position at Old Post Elementary. As a third grade teacher, I helped open two elementary schools in the district, The Wheatlands in 2001 and Homestead in 2002. After six years of teaching third grade, I began teaching in the district’s AT/Gifted program. During this time, I earned my master’s degree in educational leadership from St. Francis University. After four years in the AT/Gifted program, I was the assistant principal between Homestead and Grand Park Elementaries. I decided my true passion was in the classroom guiding children. Therefore, in 2011, I began teaching fifth grade at Homestead.
I’m excited to guide your child through his or her fifth grade journey! A journey sure to be filled with independence, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and kindness!
