Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Amy Walters
I have been a part of the Fox Chase community since 2015 and in 2017, I joined the Long Beach community. I earned my degree in Recreation Administration with a specialization toward Fitness Leadership in 1997 from Aurora University. As a trainer and instructor, I realized that many inactive people carry around the perception of themselves from their youth regarding their physical abilities. Over time, I found myself drawn to teaching where I could help young people create healthy habits that could last a lifetime. I returned to Aurora University a second time to earn a degree in K-12 Physical Education. In addition to teaching physical education, I am a member of the special events staff at the Oswegoland Park District where I mainly assist with athletic events and races.
I believe in the power of physical activity. Not only does it help keep your body healthy, but your mind as well. Exercise can be enjoyable as a social outlet and well as a competitive one. It can activate neurons that help us all learn and can bring us intrinsic pride in ourselves. I want your students to discover how being active is more than what we learn to do in PE class. I love seeing students out using the area parks and trails, as well as participating on athletic teams and in local races. I hope to share my love of movement with your students, and that I am able see them in the community being active throughout the year.
