Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Amy Walters

In 1997, I earned a degree from Aurora University in Recreation Administration with a specialization toward Fitness Leadership. I returned to Aurora University for a second degree in K-12 Physical Education and a minor in Middle School Health. In addition to teaching, I am a member of the special events staff at the Oswegoland Park District where I mainly assist with athletic events and races. In my free time, I am often outside walking or cheering on my son at soccer games.

My career in education began in 2015 when I joined the physical education team at Fox Chase Elementary. While in that position, I attended numerous training sessions related to culturally relevant teaching, social-emotional learning and mental health, specifically dealing with trauma. In 2020, I was hired by the Special Education Department as the Adapted PE teacher for elementary schools in SD#308. I love working with special education students and seeing their capabilities blossom in adapted PE class.
