Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Cody Fleming

Hello! I am originally from Michigan and have lived on the shores of three of the Great Lakes. I am three-time graduate of Northern Michigan University. I have earned a B.S. in Social Studies and English Secondary Education ('04), an M.A. in English Writing and Literature ('09), and an  M.A.E. in Secondary Instruction ('18). I have experience teaching Modern World History, U.S. History, Psychology, Civics, U.S. History By Decade, Creative Writing, English 7, English 8, English 9, English 10, English 11, Accelerated English 11, American Literature, and Composition. This year I am teaching Modern World History and U.S. History By Decades. I am very excited for my schedule!

I am also active outside of the classroom. I am the varsity coach for Scholastic Bowl at Oswego East. Come join us! We travel around Illinois and compete against other teams in trivia-style competition. I also advise the club Unsolved! which focusess on mystery-related activities such as board games, puzzles, murder mysteries, movies, and traveling to escape rooms. In the past, I have also served on the school improvement team, advised the Royal Sherlockian Society, supervised 66 Minute Mysteries, and served as the social chair for the Social Studies Department. I have advised past writing contests, judged theater students, spoke at student ceremonies, and more. This year I am hoping to present to the staff during professional development.

Outside of school, I like to spend time with my beautiful wife and two great kids. My hobbies include hiking, playing and designing board games, writing, playing video games, and watching movies and television shows. I am a huge Boston Red Sox fan, and, in fact, named my son Boston to honor that love. Go Red Sox! I also love everything Nintendo, Marvel, and '66 Batman. I look forward to meeting you!
