Mrs. Abby Campbell

Welcome to Social Work Services at Oswego East High School

Prior to transferring to Oswego East in August 2019, I worked as a full-time social worker at Wolf's Crossing Elementary School in SD308 for 8 years.  I joined the staff at SD308 in 2011 after completing my Masters Degree in School Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago- Jane Addams College of Social Work.  Previously, I attended Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois where I received my Bachelors Degree in Social Work. My internship experience during my undergraduate degree included working as a Transitional Living Specialist and On-Call Crisis Worker providing individual counseling and case management services to at-risk homeless and runaway youth.  My graduate degree internship experience included working as a school social work intern in North Berwyn School District 98 at two public elementary schools.

In addition to being a school-based social worker at OE, I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, providing clinical therapy to children, teens, adults and couples

I feel strongly that all students, regardless of obstacles have the ability to succeed with the proper interventions and/or supports in place.  School social workers have the unique opportunity to help guide students through their academic careers and assist them in building the social and emotional learning (SEL) skills necessary to become well-adjusted, responsible human beings.

Parents, I am here to assist you by…

  • Working with you and your child to support good attendance
·Explore ways to help your child succeed socially, emotionally, and behaviorally
·Provide referrals for community resources (i.e. food, clothing, counseling, etc.)
·Help bridge communication between home & school
  • Answer questions related to the special education process

Students, I am here to help you with…

  • Working out interpersonal relationship problems
    · Setting goals
    · Working well with others
    · Feeling good about yourself
    · Adjusting to a new school
    · Learning how to make decisions
    · Managing your feelings (stress, worry, anger, etc.)
    · Dealing with peer pressure and bullying

Additional Services Provided:

  • Delivery and Implementation of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) initiatives
    · Classroom Presentations (Autism Awareness, Bullying, Anxiety, etc.)
    · Brief Solution-Focused Counseling
    · Parent and Teacher Consultations
    · Community Resources
    · Social Work Services through a Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS)

I look forward to another wonderful year working with parents, students and staff at Oswego East!
