Mr. Anthony DeFeo

Principal

I am honored to begin my fourth year as principal of Thompson Junior High.  I am excited about the progress we've shown these past three years and look forward to our continued growth as a building and community.  I very much appreciate the support we receive from all of our parents and the vital role you play as a member of our educational team.

I received my bachelor's degree from Elmhurst College with a focus in physical education and history.  I moved on to Concordia University where I pursued and received my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.  One of my passions is working with and supporting students with special needs.  I received my Director of Special Education degree from Aurora University in 2015.

Our mission is to develop students' love for learning while igniting creativity, compassion for self and others, and the courage needed to act on their beliefs.

Feel free to stop in anytime to say hello or schedule an appointment to sit down for a more in-depth conversation.

Welcome to Thompson!

Assistant Principal

I’m excited and honored to begin working as the interim Assistant Principal at Thompson Junior High School.  My goal is to support children so that they can grow academically and become strong members of their community.  I feel that strong communication between the home and school is essential to the growth of our students, so please feel free to contact me.

I received my bachelor’s degree from Bradley University and began working as a high school social studies teacher in Peoria, Illinois.  Upon completion of my master’s degree in Educational Administration and Leadership, my wife and I moved back to the western suburbs.  I began my career in administration in East Aurora in various roles and look forward to serving the Thompson community.

Do not hesitate to contact me so that I can support you, our students and community.

Assistant Principal

I am honored and delighted to serve the Thompson Junior High community as your Interim Assistant Principal. I hope to support your child and their education by continuing the great work that TJHS staff is doing for students. Our foci are best practices in instruction as well as positive supports and interventions for students. Before becoming a Tiger, I served as an assistant principal at a large comprehensive high school in southern California where I specialized in creating equitable structures in a diverse environment and student support systems that propel students to reach their full potential. Before becoming an Assistant Principal, Ispent 11 years teaching all levels French, Spanish, and AVID and coaching the high school boy’s and girl’s tennis teams.

Learning has always been a passion of mine. I attended Bradley University for my undergraduate degrees in Spanish, French, and K-12 education. During my undergraduate degree program, I seized the opportunity to study and live in Mexico, Spain, and France. In 2008, I earned a Master’s of Arts in Education from Point Loma Nazarene University with a focus on teaching and learning. In 2015, I graduated from University of San Diego with her Administrative Services Credential.

I am looking forward to meeting your student and supporting their own personal and academic growth at Thompson Junior High. Go Tigers!

My caseload includes students with the last names that begin A-L. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns or positive thoughts to share.

Go Tigers!
