Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I am optimistic that it is going to be a wonderful school year!

I wanted to take a few moments to introduce myself. This is my eighth year as a special education teacher. My first two years as a teacher, I taught at Autumn Creek Elementary School in Yorkville (District 115). The past five years, I taught at Southbury Elementary School, right here in District 308. This is my first year teaching at Long Beach & I am so excited to be part of this wonderful school family!

I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in elementary education and went on to receive my special education certification (LBS I). Teaching special education is my passion in life and I will do my best to demonstrate that on a regular basis.

My goal for this school year, as in previous years, is for all of my students to meet or exceed the goals that have been set for them. My hope is for all of my students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I also want all of my students to feel important, special, and cared for.

I believe in having collaborative relationships and open communication throughout the school year. You can contact me by emailing me at elorch@sd308.org or by calling my Google Voice number: (630) 557-6353. My email address is still under my maiden name. That is why you will see “Lorch”, “Dunne”, or a combination of the two. My students, however, know me as “Mrs. Dunne” (pronounced “done”) and I will be going by that this school year. :)

I know that along the way there may be questions, concerns, and/or comments that you might want to share. Please never hesitate to share those with me as we are a team and have the same goal in mind, which is success for your child.

I look forward to working with you and your child this year!

Warm Regards,

Elizabeth Lorch Dunne
