•  TW Families,

During the past month our students have participated in many exciting activities and learning experiences at The Wheatlands.  Some of these successful events include the Food Drive, Character Counts! Week, and Halloween Parties.  Thank you for your assistance in making all of these events meaningful and fun for our students!

Please take a few minutes to complete the Illinois Parent Survey, 5Essentials, at http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ to provide us with feedback for improvement.

Every year schools receive a rating from the Illinois State Board of Education based on different components that include, but are not limited to: academic growth and proficiency, chronic absenteeism, and our 5Essentials survey. I am pleased to announce that The Wheatlands has received a “Commendable” rating for the second year in a row!  View The Wheatlands’ School Report Card by clicking here.  Last year The Wheatlands’ goals were focused on math instruction and professional development for staff. This year we are focused on strengthening our academic instruction in the area of reading and providing staff with professional development and resources to support our students. Thank you to everyone for partnering with us as a team in order to support students’ learning and growth.

During the months of November and December, we celebrate the Character Counts! pillar of Caring.  We remind students to be kind and compassionate, express gratitude, forgive others, and help people in need.  Remind your child(ren) to wear Character Counts! clothing or the color red on Wednesdays during the months of November and December to show Caring.

Click HERE to learn about The Wheatlands’ Positive Recognition Program! We are in need of donations of $5 or $10 gift cards for staff who are recognized and selected for our weekly drawings.  If you are able to make a donation, please send to Dr. Harmon in the office.  Thank you!

We look forward to seeing you at our Veterans’ Day Celebrations and Parent/Teacher Conferences this month.  On behalf of The Wheatlands Staff, we wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday.

    Dr. Harmon
