- Special educators (including related service providers) utilize specialized instruction for the purpose of acquiring the necessary skills to master grade level standards.

Parents and guardians have the right to understand and participate in the proceedings at their child’s IEP meeting. The District will arrange for and cover the expense of a qualified interpreter for parents/guardians whose native language is not English or who require a sign language interpreter at the meeting. This service may be provided by a qualified District employee, or an outside vendor including a telephonic interpreter. Parents/guardians have the right to request that the interpreter provided by the school district serve no other role in the IEP meeting than as an interpreter. The District will make reasonable efforts to fulfill such requests. Questions or complaints about the District’s interpretive services should be directed to Dr. Denise Hildebrand/Executive Director of Special Education at dhildebrand@sd308.org.
To request an interpreter, please contact your child’s special education program administrator and provide the following information:
- Your Name
- Your Child’s Name
- If an interpreter will be required at all IEP meetings or at specific meetings
- The language for which an interpreter is requested
- If you request that the interpreter serve no other role at the IEP meeting than as an interpreter

Los padres y tutores tienen derecho a comprender y participar en la reunión del IEP de su hijo. El distrito conseguirá y cubrirá los gastos de un intérprete cualificado para los padres/tutores cuya lengua materna no es el inglés o para los que requieran un intérprete de lenguaje de signos en la reunión.
