Dr. Brent Anderson

Principal

Dr. Anderson opened Murphy Junior High in 2012 after spending four years as the assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at Oswego East High School. Prior to that he spent 5 years at Ridgewood High School in Norridge, Illinois as the Social Studies Department Chair and then Dean of Students. He began hist teaching career at Mankato West High school in 1997 in Mankato, Minnesota after graduating from Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. Since that time, he has completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at DePaul University and Education Specialist Degree in Educational Administration at Northern Illinois University and completed Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration at Northern Illinois University.

Ms. Laura Bingham

Assistant Principal

Laura Bingham began her career in education in 2001 as a sixth grade math, science, and language arts teacher at Bernard J. Ward Middle School in the Valley View School District 365U. She continued her career at Bernard J. Ward until 2004 before moving to Brooks Middle School, successfully teaching math and language arts until 2006. Laura was then hired as a Dean of Students at Brooks Middle School, and maintained that position until 2013. Laura’s leadership and mentoring roles in the building and district provided her the opportunity to continue to build a good rapport with staff, students, and the community in order to maintain a safe and successful building. Laura received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Toledo and her master’s degree in Administration and Leadership/Type 75 Certification from Benedictine University. Laura is excited to be a part of the Oswego School District and is eager to start the school year at Murphy Junior High. Go Mavericks!

Mrs. Deven Butusov

Special Education Coordinator

Deven Butusov began her career in 2003 as a school social worker with Kendall County Special Education Cooperative (KCSEC).  During her time as a school social worker, Deven serviced a variety of students with special education needs in the therapeutic day school setting.  In 2009, she became a Special Education Coordinator with KCSEC.  Throughout the years in this role, Deven has successfully coordinated special education programming at Opportunity School, Oswego East High School, and Oswego High School.  She is excited to be a Maverick and continue her career as a Special Education Coordinator supporting the students, families, and faculty of Murphy Jr. High.  Go Mavericks!

Deven earned her master’s degree in educational administration/Type 75 certification from Governor’s State University (University Park, IL), her master’s degree in social work from Aurora University (Aurora, IL), and her bachelor’s degree in social work from Illinois State University (Normal, IL).
