Ms. Laura Bingham

Principal

Laura Bingham began her career in education in 2001 as a sixth grade math, science, and language arts teacher at Bernard J. Ward Middle School in the Valley View School District 365U. She continued her career at Bernard J. Ward until 2004 before moving to Brooks Middle School, successfully teaching math and language arts until 2006. Laura was then hired as a Dean of Students at Brooks Middle School, and maintained that position until 2013. Laura’s leadership and mentoring roles in the building and district provided her the opportunity to continue to build a good rapport with staff, students, and the community in order to maintain a safe and successful building. Laura received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Toledo and her master’s degree in Administration and Leadership/Type 75 Certification from Benedictine University. Laura is excited to be a part of the Oswego School District and is eager to start the school year at Murphy Junior High. Go Mavericks!

Ms. Shanell Lawson

Assistant Principal 

Ms. Lawson began her education career in 2008 as a Guest Teacher/Teaching Assistant at Pioneer Elementary School in Bolingbrook, Illinois, where she taught mixed-ability students in first and second grades; from 2012-2014, she taught kindergarten students at Wood View Elementary, Bolingbrook; and from 2014-2017, taught at Jonas Salk Elementary in Bolingbrook as a 4th and 5th Grade Challenge Teacher.  Her most recent position has been at Wood View, Bolingbrook, as a Teaching and Learning Coach where she has utilized various coaching models to support teachers with instructional best practices aligned to the building’s goals. Ms. Lawson obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from North Central College, Naperville, Illinois, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois.

 

I am excited to be joining School District 308 as the Assistant Principal of Murphy Junior High. I look forward to supporting a diverse community of learners by partnering with students, staff, families and community members to ensure a positive and successful learning experience for our students.
