Churchill Character Crew Brightens the Holidays for Nursing Home Residents

The Churchill Elementary School Character Crew recently brought some holiday cheer to the residents of Autumn Leaves Assisted Living Facility in Oswego. They sang a variety of holiday songs with the residents, and also played Holiday Bingo. Character Crew members also distributed handmade holiday cards and Christmas trees. This holiday visit to Autumn Leaves has become a December tradition for the Churchill Character Crew, and is one of our students' favorite activities of the year.
Character Crew is an after school club that gives students opportunities to demonstrate good character based on the six pillars of the Character Counts! program. The students help plan and execute Character Counts! assemblies, coordinate school-wide service projects, and connect with the community in meaningful ways such as food and clothing drives, and visits to the Autumn Leaves facility.
