Mayor Richard Irvin Spends Part of Halloween Celebrating at The Wheatlands

Mayor Irvin and the Justice League

We were surprised and excited when we got contacted by the communications director from the city of Aurora letting us know that Mayor Irvin wanted to come by and celebrate with the students at The Wheatlands.  Mayor Richard C. Irvin was sworn in this past spring as the first African-American mayor of the city of Aurora.  He is an Army veteran and has served in numerous capacities in the city including as a substitute teacher in the East Aurora School District.

It was no surprise that he and his team came to The Wheatlands dressed as members of the Justice League considering Irvin's past as a Prosecutor for the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.  The kids enjoyed seeing them in their costumes and they certainly were on the receiving end of lots of wolf high fives.  You may remember that members from the city also came to the school for a special Arbor Day Event last year.  While this was a different mayor, we were excited to still be on the radar of these fun people!
