Super Bowl Themed Reading Night a HUGE Success

Reader's theater students pose for a picture after their big show.   We had several things come back during our reading night this year on February 1st, and one was definitely our school's love of reading!  All of the hard work from staff members at The Wheatlands paid off on this night of Super Bowl themed reading fun.  Sports obviously dominated in several rooms, with one major hit being Mrs. King's Kahoot! trivia on sports.  Several TW dads got to show their kids that they knew fun sports facts while competing in the fun online platform.  If you remember the iconic Bears 1985 team, you could go party with Mrs. Nagel in the LRC and try the Super Bowl Shuffle!

One of the things we love about this evening is the involvment of our students in the before and during stages of the event.  As pictured here, we had members of the Drama Club here at The Wheatlands doing a special reader's theatre with our school puppet, Wolfie.  Mrs. Greifenkamp and Mrs. Graham did a great job lending their Mrs. Nagel posing with students after practicing the "Super Bowl Shuffle" expertise to the group, but it was clear that the kids were the celebrities in this fun puppet show!  You could also spend the whole night in the LRC reading some books put out by our student authors.  Different grade level students created books to share with the attendees and also illustrated their masterpieces!

Perhaps the best part of the evening was learning that our community has psychic powers.  Yes.  We do.  One of the first things that you could do was vote on who was going to win the Super Bowl.  Of course the overwhelming majority told us that the winners would be the Philadelphia Eagles.  We would like to think that Reading Night had some influence on the outcome!
