Teaching Assistants Make a Difference!

Our teaching assistants here at The Wheatlands are awesome!  On any given day they are on the front lines working with kids, supervising lunch and recess, helping with interventions, and most importantly being an extra adult your student can rely on here at school.  They are some of our kiddos' favorite people.

The day of a teaching assistant starts early with helping students enter the building safely.  They deal with the rain, sleet, snow, etc. to help students out of cars, they welcome them with smiling faces in the morning, and help friends in special programs get off their busses safely.  During the day, they may be paired up with a specific student, helping them throughout the day to be successful in all settings here at school.  They may be one of our general T.A.s and work with small groups of students to reinforce skills and be read to by the kids for practice!  They spend lunch and recess with our little wolves, helping them with cuts and scrapes on the playground and opening basically a million packages of yogurt, milk, etc. (especially during kindergarten lunch!).

Our T.A.s are an important part of the staff here at The Wheatlands, so the next time you encounter them or your kiddo talks about how awesome they are at home, shoot them an e-mail or give them a staff recognition note to show them how great they are.

There are also times that they might have to be home sick or out for a meeting or training.  For those times, we need extra help at school!  If you are interested in becoming a substitute teaching assistant, please contact our Assistant Principal Mrs. Craig via e-mail by clicking here or by phone at (630) 636-3511.
