Murphy 6th Grader is a published author!

Maliah Glass is a new 6th grade student at Murphy, coming from Komensky Elementary in Berwyn, IL.

In May 2020 Maliah was encouraged by her 5th Grade teacher to apply to become a student author to contribute a chapter to the Illinois Digital Educators Alliance's (IDEA) new book "IDEAs to AMPLIFY Student Voice". This book was created as an opportunity to allow students to tell their stories about the innovative, creative and inspirational ways they use technology in their classrooms, communities and home environments to transform their own learning experiences. She was selected as one of twenty-three students across the state of Illinois to become a student author.

Over the summer she wrote her chapter titled, "Dancing my way through a Pandemic". Her literary contribution told her virtual dance story and how she continued her dance education, training upto 8 hours a week using a variety of technology platforms. This book has now been published and released this week. As part of this project, Mali will have the opportunity to attend the AMPLIFY Innovation Student Showcase in 2021 at the Capitol Building in Springfield, Illinois for the opportunity to show elected officials, business leaders, and the general public how technology is being used in schools across the state.

Currently age 11, Maliah has a bright future ahead as a musician, theatre actress, dancer, avid reader, AND skilled writer.

Congratulations and way to go, Maliah! We are so happy to have you as part of the Murphy community!
