Artists from Oswego High & Oswego East High Schools Offered Close to $2 Million in Combined Scholarships from IHSAE

Artists from Oswego High and Oswego East High Schools Offered Close to $2 Million in Combined Scholarships from IHSAE

 

Oswego, Ill. (February 19, 2020) — Illinois High School Art Exhibition (IHSAE) is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to enhance the creative educational landscape, giving student and teacher artists agency to succeed by connecting them to a variety of remarkable exhibitions, opportunities, and programs, while advocating for and reinforcing the power of art in their lives.

 

Congratulations to the following students from Oswego High School, who combined were offered over $1,547,000 in scholarships:  Sophia Allen, Allison Baier, Kristeen Borges, Devin Brown, Anissa King, Stephanie Ocasio, Grace Pearson, Marc Piasky, Emily Rauch, Isabel Valdez, and Saige Vizcarra.  Congratulations also to the following students from Oswego East High School who were offered a combined $324,000 in scholarships:  Jayna Dias and Milo Zak.  

 

These students from both Oswego High and Oswego East will all have their works displayed in the Senior Scholarship Exhibition at the Chicago Bridgeport Art Center (1200 W 35th St, Chicago) which will be hosting a public opening on Sunday, March 8th from 11am-6pm. The Senior Scholarship Exhibition will exhibit 350 senior artworks and recognize scholarship offers totaling over $88 million dollars. IHSAE has partnered with more than 40 art schools, colleges and universities from across the nation; most of which, will be on hand to meet with students and parents at the College Recruitment Fair. 

 

We would also like to recognize and congratulate James Fechter, Aleigh McDermott, Michaela Miller, and Milo Zak from Oswego East High School and Devin Brown, Danielle Donovan, Anissa King, Shaely Whiting, Jenna Lovell, and Rebecca Schoolfield from Oswego High School who will have works represented in the General Art Exhibition also at the Chicago Bridgeport Art Center. The IHSAE’s General Art Exhibition is a “Best of the Best” Show featuring over 800 works of art, in 8 distinct categories, from Illinois suburban, public and private high schools. The Art Show is open from Monday, March 2nd through Saturday, April 4th.

 

An estimated 4,000 students, teachers, parents, college representatives, school district administrators, and guests are expected to attend the state’s largest high school student art exhibition on March 8th which is also widely considered the gold standard amongst high school student art exhibitions nationwide.
