Garett Jerel Fair Selected as Assistant Principal at The Wheatlands Elementary School
for 2020-21 School Year
Oswego, Ill. (August 12, 2020) — Oswego Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education approved at their August 10, 2020 board meeting Garett Jerel Fair as Assistant Principal at The Wheatlands Elementary School for the 2020-21 school year.
“Garett Fair will make a wonderful addition to The Wheatlands and our elementary administrative team,” said Dr. Lindsay Allen, Director of Elementary Education at SD 308, “His positive attitude, child-centered approach, and knowledge of instruction make him the perfect candidate for the Assistant Principal position at The Wheatlands Elementary School.”
Fair began his educational career in 2013 (to 2016) as a teacher at the Middle School Regional Safe Schools Program in Aurora, Illinois. From 2016 (to 2019) he taught at Edna Rollins Elementary School, Aurora, Illinois, as an art teacher and then as a 5th grade teacher. Most recently (2018-present), Fair has continued to worked at Edna Rollins Elementary School where he has been a participant of the School Improvement Team, MTSS Team and a facilitator of the PLC Team. From 2019-2020, he also held Internship Duties at Edna Rollins where he was responsible for supervisory and managerial duties within administrative roles, including serving as morning administrator on Thursdays, collaborated in community outreach efforts to help improve student attendance rates and worked closely with the building principal to build sound decision-making skills.
Fair obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Elementary Education) from Aurora University, Aurora, Illinois; and a Master of Arts (Educational Leadership and Administration) from Concordia University, Chicago, Illinois.
“I am beyond excited to join SD 308 as the new assistant principal at The Wheatlands Elementary School,” said Fair. “As a resident of this great community, I am so honored to serve Oswego in educating our children and preparing them for the future. As SD 308 strives to educate all children to reach their fullest potential, I relish in my opportunity to see that vision come to fruition.
