East Aurora School District 131 Assists Oswego Community Unit School District 308 in Providing Technology to Students
Oswego, Ill. (September 30, 2020) — The Oswego Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education approved entering a lease agreement that provides Chromebooks for all students in grades 5 - 12, known as 1:1 technology at the August 3 meeting. However, demand has exceeded availability of Chromebook device purchases amid the pandemic, and availability of these items is, unfortunately, delayed until November. Through a generous partnership, East Aurora School District 131 agreed to temporarily loan SD 308 devices for student use while remote learning continues.
With about 700 loaned devices from East Aurora School District 131, many additional students are now equipped with a device to assist in completion of remote learning.
“We are thankful to Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Norrell and the East Aurora School District Board of Education for this incredible opportunity to partner for the benefit of our students while we await the arrival of our new devices.” said Dr. John Sparlin, SD 308 superintendent of schools. “This is another example of how communities have banded together to overcome obstacles during this difficult time.”
Dr. Norrell and East Aurora School District 131 were pleased to assist with the loan of devices. "Our Board of Education is grateful for the opportunity to partner with our neighboring district," said Dr. Norrell. "As superintendent I value the partnership I have developed with Dr. Sparlin, and while the learning environment has changed for everyone, this collaboration with Oswego 308 means that more students have access to remote learning."
Mission Statement: In partnership with our families and communities, Community Unit School District 308 will educate all students to reach their highest potential.
