Churchill Elementary School Assistant Principal

Oswego, Ill. (August 24, 2021) Oswego Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education approved Bridget Hankes-Ixpata as the new assistant principal at Churchill Elementary School at its Board of Education meeting on Monday, August 23, 2021. 


Hankes-Ixpata began her educational career in 1998, as a Bilingual Title 1 Teacher for Reading and Math at Hermes Elementary School in the East Aurora School District 131, East Aurora, Illinois.  In 2000, she took a position with Clifford Johnson Elementary, Wheaton-Warrenville District 200, Warrenville, Illinois, where she taught fourth grade and kindergarten.  It was also during this time that she was involved in the various building level committees and teams: School Improvement Team, Building Leadership Team, Safety Protocol Revision, New Teacher Mentoring, Social Emotional Learning Committee, and School Reopening Team.  “Ms. Hankes-Ixpata has 21 years of elementary school teaching experience, and she is a collaborative leader who has a positive attitude,” said Dr. Lindsay Allen, Director of Elementary Education. “She is committed to embracing the diversity of our community and  recognizes the importance of creating positive relationships with all stakeholders.”


Ms. Hankes-Ixpata obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences: English, Hispanic Studies, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois; Master of Arts in Teaching with Certification, Aurora University, Aurora, Illinois; Bilingual/ESL Endorsement, National Louis University, Lisle, Illinois; and Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, Aurora University, Aurora, Illinois. “I am excited to be joining SD 308 as an Assistant Principal at Churchill Elementary,” said Bridget, “because the staff, students, and parents have been so welcoming.  Students are thrilled to be together again at school and on the playground, and the learning environment at Churchill is engaging and inclusive.  Everybody belongs!  As a new administrator, I feel like Churchill and SD 308 are great places for me to learn and grow, and I am grateful to have the awesome opportunity to serve such a wonderful community.”
