Congratulations to TW Retirees Mrs. Ward and Mrs. King!
Covid-19 definitely changed a lot of things. The last day our students set foot in the classroom was March 13th during the last school year, and it caused a whirlwind of emotions and events in our communities! One thing that we would like to recognize is that we didn’t know that for two of our long time TW teachers, that was their last day in the classroom! For their own health and safety as well as the safety of their families, these lovely ladies made the very hard decision to retire early after long, amazing careers!
Mrs. Sandra Ward began her teaching career in Colorado over 30 years ago and taught 1st grade for the majority of those years. Just a few years ago, she was moved up to fourth grade and used her expertise and “calm in the storm” attitude to do great things with our fourth grade wolves. Mrs. Ward was one of the original wolves to TW and started teaching in 2001 when the building opened! Though she will miss the students and staff, she will certainly enjoy time in her “happy place” (her front porch) reading and sitting in the sun!
Mrs. Anne King came to The Wheatlands during the 2008-2009 school year as a second grade teacher. An Aurora native, Mrs. King grew up in the area and taught at Holy Angels Catholic School for a number of years. Recently, she welcomed her first grandchild into the family, and she couldn’t be more excited. Her glowing personality and sense of humor will be missed, but we know that she will have loads of fun cuddling the newest addition to her family!
Congratulations to Mrs. King and Mrs. Ward on their retirement. The community of The Wheatlands Elementary wishes you the best of luck!
