Thank you for your interest in the Early Childhood Program at Oswego Community Unit School District 308. We are proud to offer high-quality educational experiences that nurture the emotional, physical, social, and developmental growth of our youngest learners. Our program is grounded in the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards, preparing children for lifelong learning and academic success. Each year, we serve more than 600 early childhood students across the district.

Programs

Children may become eligible for our Early Childhood Program through one of the following programs:

  • Preschool for All (PFA) - The Preschool for All (PFA) program provides free, high-quality early childhood education to children ages 3-5 who are at risk of academic challenges, helping prepare them for success in kindergarten and beyond.

  • Special Education Services - The Special Education Services support children 3-5 years of age who have an identified special education eligibility and who have an IEP that requires a more intense level of programming are enrolled as early childhood special education students.

  • Tuition-Based Preschool - Our Tuition-Based Preschool Program offers a high-quality early learning experience for children ages 3 to 5 in a play-based, nurturing environment led by certified teachers.

Programs are held at the Brokaw Early Learning Center and at select elementary schools throughout the district.

Curriculum and Instruction

Our classrooms use the Creative Curriculum, a research-based, play-centered program designed for preschool-aged children. Certified teachers provide a balance of direct instruction and child-led inquiry through play-based learning. Each day includes at least one hour of exploration through play areas. Instruction is personalized based on individual student interests and developmental progress.

Program Schedule

Our preschool classes follow a half-day schedule, Monday - Friday:

  • Morning Session: 8:00 am – 10:30 am

  • Afternoon Session: 11:45 am – 2:15 pm

Preschool students follow the district calendar, except on shortened attendance days when preschool is not in session.
