Long-Range Facility Plan
What is a Long-Range Facility Plan?
A dynamic roadmap for future facility improvements across the District.
Purpose of the Long-Range Facility Plan
The purpose of the Long-Range Facility Plan is to provide a structure for and strategic reasoning behind future facility development goals to ensure that they are aligned with stated visions and mission of the school. It provides a logical development strategy which supports the educational delivery of the school and can coordinate and align many diverse considerations into a strategic long term idea. Through facility analysis, assessment and stakeholder meetings, this long range plan will result in a road map for facility renovation and development for years to come.
This is Our Long-Range Facility Plan. This is Our Story.
Approved by the Board of Education on December 8, 2025, the SD 308 Long-Range Facility Plan is a comprehensive roadmap to improve the district’s schools, enhancing the learning experience for students while proactively maintaining buildings and systems for long-term use.
This plan is broken down into three phases: Facility Condition Assessment, Educational Alignment, and Long-Range Facility Planning. The first phase, Facility Condition Assessment, focused around evaluating the current state of each of our buildings. This allowed us to identify what needs to be addressed both now and in the future. Due to the population growth of the Oswego area in the early 2000s, many of our schools were built around the same time and need updates to HVAC, roofs, and flooring.
The second phase, Educational Alignment, included conversations with students, staff, families, and community members. It sought to understand how the spaces throughout each school building were used and how student learning needs were met. It documented unique challenges in several buildings based on their age, layout, or shared spaces.
The third phase, Long-Range Facility Planning, combined information and feedback from Phases 1 and 2. The findings of the Facility Condition Assessment were shared with students, staff, and families, who were invited to provide input on how to provide relevant updates for each school building. Beyond the physical spaces, feedback was collected on the future vision for learning and what might be most important to those who use the schools each day. Wight & Company used these touchpoints to create more robust recommendations for each of our buildings.

Places and Spaces Community Engagement Sessions
We hosted a series of “Places and Spaces” engagement sessions for all members of the SD 308 community to review Wight & Company’s findings and share their input on future projects. These meetings were held at both the district level and school level, offering a variety of opportunities to learn and voice opinions. Surveys and questions were also used to collect additional information.
