Volunteers

The satellite location provides food and personal care items to members of the Oswego and neighboring communities each month.

In order to operate a successful pantry every month, volunteers will be requested for a variety of positions. Please note that all volunteers must be high school age or older due to pantry policy (Grades 9+). The following volunteer positions will be available:

  • Set Up: Taking food items out of boxes, placing them on tables, packing bags/boxes of food, and breaking down unused boxes.
  • Food Room Assistant: Assigned a particular task in the food room such as passing out food items, packing food for the drive-up line, directing the flow of carts, etc.
  • Hallway Monitors: Help direct neighbors as they move around the pantry and replenish carts from outside.
  • Outside Cart Attendant: Help walk-in neighbors load their boxes/bags of food into their vehicle and place used carts back inside pantry
  • Drive-Up Line Volunteer: Assigned solely to the drive-up line. You will take boxes of pre-packed food and take out to vehicles in the drive-up line.
  • Community Care Volunteer: Assist Community Cares with taking personal care item orders, packing bags and distributing those items
  • Food Room Station Leader (Adults Only): Lead a food station in the food room (meat, vegetables, fruits, etc.). You will inform neighbor(s) how many of each food item they may take from your station.
  • Traffic Control Volunteer (Adults Only): Work with the traffic team to control the flow of traffic in and out of the pantry
