The community of Oswego has grown from humble beginnings. What was once a rural area filled with small country schools is now home to the seventh largest school district in Illinois. Each defining moment of our history has brought us to where we are today: a diverse community dedicated to serving students throughout their unique educational journeys.

This is “Our Story.” Together, we are writing the next chapter.

Strategic Planning Process

Strategic Planning Process

Before building a new Strategic Plan, SD 308 took time to listen and learn. Through a systemwide curriculum audit and outreach across our schools and community, we aimed to understand what was working—and where we could grow. In early 2025, we invited feedback through surveys, polls, quick questions, focus groups, and town hall meetings.

These conversations with students, staff, families, and community members directly informed our Strategic Plan, which was approved in March 2025. It represents a shared vision for the future of our schools. It acknowledges the past, celebrates who we are today, and develops a bright outlook for what's ahead.

Developing the Portrait of a Learner

Developing the Portrait of a Learner

Through input from students, families, and staff, a comprehensive list of essential student skills was developed. To refine this information, a collaborative task force was formed to analyze the data and synthesize it into a focused set of five key attributes.

These attributes represent the skills and abilities we collectively aspire for our students to develop throughout their educational journey in SD 308. The goal is for all students to develop into well-rounded learners.
