NxtGEN Residency

First introduced in May 2024, the NxtGEN Residency Program provides opportunities for individuals to teach in Oswego Community Unit School District 308 while simultaneously furthering their own education through classes at Aurora University. This program allows people to receive teaching certifications or additional endorsements, ultimately aiding SD 308 in addressing the current teaching shortage observed nationwide. NxtGEN aims to support the district in improving student performance and helping staff fulfill their career aspirations while enhancing employee retention.

Why SD 308 NxtGEN?
Our goal is to help develop our teachers and leaders to handle the changing needs of education and be ready to sustain our system into the future. Our teaching and leadership training programs, now called the SD 308 NxtGEN Teacher and Leader Residency Programs, are all about looking ahead and making education better in SD 308. We believe in professional development to grow the talent we already have within our district, people from right here in our community. Investing in our staff, and preparing our schools with a strong pipeline of educators who have expanded knowledge and training to meet the changing needs of our students.
